Biography

Before it all started, I dreamt of what could be. I sat in a seat amidst 52 girls and sang church songs in intricate three part harmonies. I danced across a stage as I belted Somewhere Over the Rainbow. I tried out for American Idol in the shower. I learned piano then got to college and bought a ukulele because it fit in my forced triple. I wrote my first song and my world opened up. I began to see in melodies and feel in lyrics. I surrounded myself with people that inspired me and I began sharing my music with the world.Life can be so unpredictable, but the advice I preach and try to follow for myself is that if you’re not doing what makes you happy, you’re going to wake up and wonder where it all went. I make my music to the best of my abilities. I make it expressive, joyful, simple, provocative, open, dim, complicated, and catchy. I make it true to me and I share it with anyone and everyone who will listen.

My Sound

I listen to so many different genres. I love experimenting with music. I like discovering new artists and also diving into age old classical or classic rock. I believe that that’s how I write- all over the map.I like to think that each song has a bit of a different sound or touches on a different genre. I guess if I would have to classify my sound, it would be folky with a little pop thrown in there. The focus of my music is definitely the lyrics. I love to write. I write every single day- whether it’s a scribble in my notebook at work or a quick note on my phone, I am always writing words. It’s how I make sense of the world around me. The most exciting moments in my life are when I am reminded how powerful music is or better yet, how powerful MY music is or could be. When people listen to my music and tear up or sway or smile or just close their eyes and take it in, it’s surreal for me. This is who I am and who I would like to be. This is what I do and what I would like to be doing every minute of every day. I am so lucky to have all the people around me that support me. They’re there at my best and they’re there at my worst. Thank you to my fans, my friends, and my family.
